US-41 resurfacing starts next week in Baraga and Houghton counties

HOUGHTON AND BARAGA COUNTIES, MI— Road work in Houghton and Baraga counties is slated to start on Monday.

The Michigan Department of Transportation is resurfacing US-41 north of Mead Road/Maki Road in L'Anse Township and southbound US-41 (Hancock Street) from east of the M-203 (Quincy Street) intersection to Reservation Street in Hancock.

Both projects are expected to be finished by Friday, September 26.

And an emergency culvert replacement on US-41 north of Massie Road near Chassell will also start on Monday. Crews will be replacing a culvert that was damaged by excessive rainfall in July.

That work is expected to be completed by Friday, October 27.
