MARQUETTE, MI— Three U.P. towns with populations fewer than 10,000 are getting money from the state to fix their roads.
The grants are being awarded through the Community Service Infrastructure Fund Category B Program.
The City of Iron River is getting $250,000 to fix various streets. Negaunee has been awarded $250,000 to improve Hungerford Avenue and West Prince and Ann Streets. And the Village of Ahmeek is getting nearly $102,000 to fix Wright and Hubbell Streets.
Projects were selected, in part, because they are paired with planned infrastructure work, coordinated with other road agencies, focused on extending the useful life of the road, and have limited other funding sources.
