MDOT projects slated to start in May

road work ahead

UPPER PENINSULA, MI— Road work is starting in earnest this month, with two projects set to begin in the U.P. over the next couple of weeks.

Starting Monday, the Michigan Department of Transportation will resurface approximately two miles of US-2 from Kent Street to Traders Mine Road in Iron Mountain. Drivers should expect single-lane closures with traffic shifts.

The $1.4 million project is expected to end in late June.

And beginning May 11, MDOT will resurface more than 21 miles of M-28 in Baraga and Houghton counties, from the Houghton/Ontonagon county line to Leo South Road. There will be single-lane closures with traffic regulators.

That project should wrap up in late October.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
