MARQUETTE, MI— Construction on the Iron Ore Heritage Trail’s 4.3-mile Lakenenland extension remains on schedule for completion in mid-September.

Officials say improvements are being made to the existing multi-use trail corridor from Kawbawgam Road to the sculpture park. It will remain open to both motorized and non-motorized use.

Construction of an ADA-accessible parking pad at the Lakenenland trailhead is scheduled for the first week of September. The project will also include a bicycle rack and interpretive panels highlighting the area’s natural features and cultural history.

Final vegetation work and site remediation are expected to be completed the week of September 14.
