Police find missing man's truck in Portage Canal

HANCOCK, MI--   Officials have recovered a vehicle belonging to a man whose body was pulled from the Portage Canal in April.

WLUC-TV says Michigan State Police divers and Hancock Police pulled the 1996 Olds Bravada from the water Tuesday afternoon. It belonged to Duane Kangas, 38, of Hancock, who was last seen November 7 leaving the Krist Food Mart in Houghton.

Kangas’ body was found in the canal late last month. Although an autopsy was performed to determine the cause of the death, officials have not released the results.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
