Death of subject in Grover, WI being investigated by state officials

GROVER, WI— The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation is looking into the death of a person in the Marinette County town of Grover.

At approximately midnight on Wednesday, a Marinette County deputy conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of County Road B and Poplar Ridge Lane. When the officer contacted the occupants of the vehicle, he observed a subject in the driver’s seat apparently ingesting a substance.

The subject was taken into custody and became unresponsive shortly thereafter. EMS was contacted, and they and law enforcement attempted lifesaving measures. The person was taken to a nearby hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

DCI is leading the investigation, assisted by a Crime Response Specialist. All involved law enforcement are cooperating with the investigation.

Final reports will be turned over to the Marinette County District Attorney’s Office for review.
