Marinette County Sheriff says school safety is paramount to him

PEMBINE, WI— The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office is addressing online rumors regarding the safety of the Pembine school.

Sheriff Randy Miller says his office takes every threat to school safety seriously, and all threats against schools in the county are thoroughly investigated.

The Sheriff’s Office is working closely with the Beecher-Dunbar-Pembine School District. Last week, deputies responded to the school on a report a student who made comments about self-harm and/or harming others. Miller says officers investigated the allegations with school administration and took proper steps to ensure the safety of students and the school.

Miller says the Sheriff’s Office will continue to investigate such allegations along with school officials. Per district protocols, active measures have been taken and will continue to be in place to prevent future concerns.

Sheriff Miller encourages families to rely on official district communication rather than social media.
