Michigan Army National Guard training set to begin at UP state park facilities

MARQUETTE, MI— The Michigan Army National Guard’s 107th Engineer Battalion is undertaking construction projects at various U.P. state parks this summer.

Soldiers assigned to the 1432nd Engineer Company, based in Kingsford and Gladstone, will participate in Innovative Readiness Training projects to assist the unit with building readiness.

Beginning Saturday, the projects will take place at Van Riper, Craig Lake, and McLain state parks and various state forest campgrounds and recreational facilities in Baraga County.

During construction, certain areas will be closed to the public. Most will reopen by June 13.
