UPDATE: Police looking for missing Painesdale man

UPDATE: The Houghton County Sheriff's Office says Francis Destrampe was found deceased on 12/18/23 in Baraga County. No other information is available at this time.

HOUGHTON, MI— The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in finding a missing man.

Francis Destrampe, 80, of Painesdale was last seen around midnight Saturday into Sunday morning. He was driving west on M-38 in Nisula. Officials believe he was heading to his hunting camp in the Silver River Reserve.

Destrampe was driving a red, four-door Dodge Ram truck with a plow. It has Michigan registration ENZ8027.

Anyone who has seen Destrampe or his vehicle is asked to contact the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office at 906-482-0055.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
