Missing 79-year-old man found dead in Dickinson County

NORWAY, MI— A missing Wisconsin man has been found deceased in Dickinson County.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and Norway Police Department received a report of a missing 79-year-old Oconto man over the weekend. His wife told deputies he left home around 10 a.m. Saturday to go off-road dirt biking on his motorcycle in the Norway area. She had expected him to be gone a few hours, then return home.

The missing man’s wife said he had a medical condition that required him to take medication.

The man’s vehicle and trailer were found Sunday around 7:30 a.m. at the ORV park-and-ride off the Norway Truck Trail. Deputies responded with the Sheriff’s Office ORV and, with several other area teams, initiated a search.

A Department of Natural Resources airplane located the man around 12:40 p.m. Sunday, not far from his vehicle and trailer. He was deceased at the scene.

Assisting agencies included the UPROAR ORV Club, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office Drone Team, Norway Fire Search and Rescue, North Alert EMS, Integrated Care EMS, DNR Conservation Officers, Breen and Felch Township Fire Departments, and Nordic EMS.
