MSHDA supplies tax credits for Escanaba building rehab

ESCANABA, MI— The Michigan State Housing Development Authority has awarded tax credits for the rehabilitation of an apartment building in Escanaba.

Meadowbrook Apartments was given $366,100 in Low-Income Housing Tax Credits. Developers who receive them can claim credit against their tax liability annually for up to ten years.

The Meadowbrook project is being developed by UPCAP Services and Cove Investments. It will rehabilitate 32 units of existing housing in Escanaba. All 32 units carry rental assistance from the USDA Rural Development.

The project is expected to create two permanent and 51 temporary jobs.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
