A conversation with organizer Jon Teichman

Marquette’s vinyl community is gearing up for the first major media event of 2026 as Jon Teichman and Geoff Walker bring their signature record show to Blackrocks Brewery. Scheduled for Friday, March 27, and Saturday, March 28, this "pint-sized" pop-up will occupy the front of the brewery’s main floor, offering an accessible, L-shaped browsing layout near the pub taps.

The show offers a deep dive into physical media, featuring a curated collection of approximately 3,000 items that go beyond traditional vinyl. Visitors can expect to find a resurgence of cassette tapes and CDs alongside rare soundtracks and vintage LPs, emphasizing the tactile and visual joy of physical libraries over digital files. This installment also continues a tradition of artistic collaboration, showcasing pop-art promotional visuals by Paul Olsen and maintaining strong ties with the Northern Michigan University Vinyl Record Club to engage the next generation of listeners.

Public Radio 90's Kurt Hauswirth spoke with Teichman about the show:

The event extends to Teichman’s nearby storefront, The Emporium on Third, which will offer additional variety. The event serves as a community hub where attendees can trade in old media, seek expert advice on niche genres, or enjoy live music from The Make-Believe Spurs on Saturday night. By blending the commerce of rare finds with the spirit of the Third Street music scene, the pop-up aims to strengthen the local connection between artists, collectors, and the specialized listeners who call Marquette home.
