The Marquette creative community is coming together to honor Cindy Engle, a foundational figure who has spent decades championing local creators through initiatives such as the OutBack Art Fair and the Marquette Blues Society. After a period of severe health challenges, Engle is steadily recovering, prompting friends and neighbors to shift their collective energy from worry to celebration. Fellow event organizer and musician Emily Bianchi Roberts notes that the upcoming gathering is designed to mirror Engle’s resilient spirit and signature positive mindset, transforming a traditional benefit into a joyful tribute to her ongoing healing.
Having known Engle for nearly a decade since first discovering her music-themed artwork, Bianchi Roberts shares an appreciation for Engle's personal generosity, which often takes the form of quiet acts of support for others behind the scenes. Drawing on her background in music education and performance, Bianchi Roberts is also preparing live music tailored to the occasion.
Public Radio 90's Kurt Hauswirth spoke with Bianchi Roberts about the celebration:
The celebration is scheduled for Thursday, June 18th, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Lake Superior Smokehouse Brewpub in Harvey. Ahead of the gathering, local businesses and individuals are invited to drop off prize donations at Michigan Made.
