Windmill Music’s new six-track EP, "I Will Never Calm Down!!!!!," takes its bold title from an Australian comedy sketch, serving as a fitting manifesto for the group’s relentless sonic energy and dense arrangements. Recorded over a fast-paced two-day session at Chicago’s legendary Electrical Audio Studios with engineer Jon San Paolo, the Marquette-based project captures a tight, unvarnished performance that balances intricate indie-rock arpeggios with expansive rhythm section work. The tight studio timeframe forced the band to deliver a focused set of music that maximizes every second of tape without overwhelming the listener.
Tracking at such an iconic facility allowed the group to experiment with vintage gear, incorporating classic bass amplifiers, a Hammond B-3 organ, and a rare Clavinet into their sound. This gear setup enhanced a unique blend of musical backgrounds, combining bassist Josh LaMere’s punk-rock roots and post-rock sensibilities with singer-songwriter-guitarist Kent Randell’s formal compositional style and vocalist/keyboardist Selena Potila’s electronic and indie influences. Vocally, the group seamlessly trades lead responsibilities throughout the record, with Potila taking the helm on intense tracks like "Concussion No. 15" and Randell shifting to higher harmonies on softer offerings like "Come My Way." The group is filled out by drummer Evan Potila and guitarist Matt Lynch.

The new record is available now through Cudighi Records on Bandcamp in both digital formats and on physical cassette, which comes packaged with early demos and an extended experimental track. To celebrate the release, Windmill Music is heading out for a pair of regional live performances. They play The Orpheum Theater in Hancock alongside The God Eaters and Ferrari Fast on Friday, August 6th, followed by a hometown show at Superior Culture in Marquette on Saturday, August 7th with Chanteymen, poet Ronnie Ferguson's project Streaking in Tongues, and Jon Bloom.
