Adamini steps down from Marquette County GOP

MARQUETTE, MI--   The former chair and current secretary of the Marquette County Republican Party has resigned his post, following blowback from statements he made on social media last Thursday.

WLUC-TV says Dan Adamini, who suggested “another Kent State” might be needed to quell violent university protests, submitted his letter of resignation Wednesday.  He says he’s received death threats and doesn’t want others to be hurt because of his comments.

Since the incident received national attention Adamini has deleted both his Facebook and Twitter accounts. Radio station WDMJ has also suspended his conservative radio show, “In the Right Mind,” and is reviewing his contract.

In his letter Adamini said, “The threats and hatred do not appear to be dying down and I do not want to be a distraction to the important work that lies ahead. I will continue to support the party, but will not do so in an official capacity for the foreseeable future.”

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
