MADISON, WI— A former Navy SEAL and businessman has entered Wisconsin's 2026 governor's race.
Bill Berrien announced his candidacy Wednesday, aligning himself with President Donald Trump and promoting a “Wisconsin First” agenda.
In his campaign video, Berrien criticized Democratic Governor Tony Evers for vetoing a transgender sports ban and opposing mass deportations. Berrien promised to cut taxes, bolster manufacturing, and increase worker wages.
This is Berrien’s first political campaign. He joins Washington County Executive Josh Schoemann as the only declared Republican candidates for the race.
Evers hasn't announced whether he'll seek a third term.
