'Failure to yield' cause of Marquette Township crash

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   Minor injuries are reported in a two-vehicle accident on County Road HQ in Marquette Township.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office was called Monday around 5:30 p.m. to HQ near US-41 West. Deputies say a Ford Escape driven by a 21-year-old Illinois woman failed to yield to traffic while exiting the Target parking lot and drove in front of a northbound Subaru Forester driven by a 24-year-old Mohawk man.

A passenger in the Escape—a 19-year-old Marquette woman—was taken to UPHS-Marquette for treatment of minor injuries.

The Illinois woman was cited for failure to yield.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
