Marinette County crash claims woman's life

STEPHENSON, WI--   The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office says a Wisconsin woman has died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident last month.

On May 29 around 5:50 p.m. a vehicle was northbound on CTH-A near Jazwinski Road in the town of Stephenson. It entered the shoulder, lost control, crossed the centerline, and hit a southbound vehicle.

A female passenger in the northbound vehicle —identified as Jennifer Vania, 45, of Athelstane—was taken to a Green Bay hospital with serious injuries. The Marinette County Medical Examiner says she passed away from complications of her injuries on Sunday.

A woman in the southbound vehicle was also injured—possibly seriously.

The crash remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
