UPDATE: Woman with dementia missing from Franklin Township home

UPDATE: Plute was found safe around 3 p.m. Wednesday. She was treated by medical personnel at the scene and released to her family. Further details will be released by the Houghton County Sheriff's Office.

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, MI--    Law enforcement is looking for a missing Houghton County woman.

Tuesday around 8:15 p.m. the county Sheriff’s Office was called to a residence on Forsman Road in Franklin township on a report of a missing 75-year-old. The woman is identified as Judith Plute. She suffers from dementia and Parkinson’s Disease.

Plute was last seen wearing a white sweater, blue jeans and white tennis shoes.

A search was launched using the Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office K-9 team and two Michigan State Police K-9 teams, Houghton City Police, Hancock City Police, Michigan Tech Public Safety, troopers from the Calumet Post, the Houghton County Office of Emergency Measures, and Superior Search and Rescue.

As of 4 a.m. Wednesday Plute has not been found.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
