Public Radio 90 presents a special holiday edition of Peninsula Performances, featuring the latest Marquette Choral Society concert, Gloria!
The live concerts from Saturday December 11th and Sunday December 12th in Marquette's St. Peter Cathedral mark the first live performances of the symphonic choir in two years, after COVID-19 concerns kept the singers apart. We at WNMU-FM are pleased and excited to share this wonderful holiday concert with you, on the air on two occasions: Friday, Dec. 24th at 8pm EST, and again, Tuesday, Dec. 28th at 1pm EST.
Producer and host Kurt Hauswirth will provide narration and context to the two works presented by the choral society: Ralph Vaughan Williams' Mass in G minor, and John Rutter's Gloria. The works were both picked by Dr. Erin Colwitz (Music Director), because they not only celebrate the holiday season, but are compositions that are amplified by performance in a cathedral space.
The second half of this edition of Peninsula Performances will feature an encore presentation of "A Sing-Along Messiah," from December of 2020. Note: this will not feature the same Zoom event from 2020, but you are still encouraged to find your favorite holiday sweater, and your copy of Handel's Messiah to sing along!
