Price of a Recreation Passport going up

LANSING, MI— The Michigan Recreation Passport will cost a little bit more, starting next month.

On March 1st, the Department of Treasury is raising the cost for a resident vehicle from $12 to $13. The cost for a motorcycle passport will go up one dollar to $7, and two-year vehicle registrations will increase from $24 to $26.

The passport gives year-round vehicle access to 100-plus state parks and recreation areas, more than 1,000 state-managed boating access sites, 140-plus plus state forest campgrounds, and parking at thousands of miles of trails and other outdoor spaces.

The Department of Natural Resources says it’s the first such increase since 2020.
