BARAGA, MI— The Department of Natural Resources is holding a ribbon-cutting Wednesday for the new, accessible playground at Baraga State Park.
The playground boasts swings, a wavy arch for a touchy-feely experience, and a tree fort playscape complete with climbing rocks, triple and spiral slides, log steps, a balance beam, climbing nets, and connecting platforms. It all sits on a rubberized surface that makes access easier for all mobility levels.
The playground was constructed in a partnership between the DNR, community members, and the Michigan Army National Guard 107th Engineer Battalion as part of its Innovative Readiness Training.
The ribbon-cutting takes place Wednesday at 11 a.m. at 1300 US-41 South in Baraga.
