UP traffic signal work starts today

ESCANABA, Mich. - Crews from the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) have begun work to upgrading traffic signal controllers on state trunkline highways around the U-P.

Signals at intersections on various “I”, “M” and “U-S” routes around the region will receive upgraded control systems over the next several weeks. Each signal will be placed in flash mode for about 10 to 15 minutes while equipment is replaced.

MDOT is urging drivers to use caution when approaching an intersection while signals are in flash mode and work is in progress.
