ONTONAGON COUNTY, MI— The Department of Natural Resource’s new Porcupine Mountains Winter Sports Complex opened on Friday.
It offers downhill skiing and snowboarding, fat-tire biking, glades, and a triple chair lift, among other activities.
Gogebic Community College operated the facility for the past ten years. The DNR contracted last year with new concessionaire Simple Adventures to run longtime park businesses and provide new services.
The complex is just inside the entrance to Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park in the Western U.P. A Recreation Passport is needed to enter the park.
