BILLINGS, MT (AP)--   U.S. transportation officials have finalized long-delayed measures meant to prevent pipeline spills and deadly gas explosions but don't address recommended steps to lessen accidents once they occur. 

The Department of Transportation rules published Tuesday apply to more than 500,000 miles of pipelines that carry natural gas, oil and other hazardous materials throughout the U.S.

RAPID RIVER, MI (AP)--   A new Upper Peninsula trail being dedicated Sunday honors a woman who was fatally burned in a gas stove explosion while camping in the Hiawatha National Forest. 

Marjorie Dutton, 67, of Rapid River died October 1st at the University of Michigan Trauma Burn Center in Ann Arbor.

James Dutton says his parents were at Indian River Campground when his mother had an accident while lighting a gas stove. It's in Schoolcraft County's Hiawatha Township.

Richard Dutton, 71, is recovering at the burns center.
