PORTAGE TOWNSHIP, MI--   One person was taken to the hospital after three vehicles crashed in Houghton County Friday. 

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched around 7:35 p.m. to M-26 and Green Acres Road in Portage Township. They say a 64-year-old Atlantic Mine man was making a left-hand turn onto Green Acres Road when he failed to see a southbound vehicle with its headlights off driven by a 66-year-old Painesdale woman.

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A three-vehicle crash in Negaunee Township injured two people.

Michigan State Police say Wednesday around noon a pickup driven by Gary Perala of Negaunee was eastbound on US-41 near Marquette Powersports when his truck crossed several lanes of traffic. It struck two vehicles in the westbound lanes.

Perala was taken to UPHS-Marquette for a non-life-threatening head injury.

One of the other drivers, Donna Eliassen of Negaunee, had to be extricated from her vehicle. She was also taken to UPHS-Marquette with injuries to her lower body.

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Marquette woman has been arrested for causing a three-vehicle accident in Marquette Township.

Marquette County Sheriff’s deputies were called Thursday around 5:30 p.m. to US-41 West near Commerce Drive. They say two vehicles were stopped at a red light at the intersection. A green Ford passenger car driven by a Marquette woman failed to stop for the light and rear-ended a red pickup truck. The truck was propelled into the rear of a brown passenger car also stopped at the light.

NORWAY TOWNSHIP, MI--   One person was taken to the hospital after a three-vehicle crash in Dickinson County.

Michigan State Police from the Iron Mountain Post responded Thursday around 12:40 p.m. to US-2 at Summit Road in Norway Township.

CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI--   Weather is being blamed for a three-vehicle accident in Chocolay Township Monday morning.

Township Police say a vehicle equipped with a plow was northbound on US-41 near Surrey Lane when it crossed the centerline and struck a southbound vehicle. The southbound vehicle then collided with a third, northbound vehicle.

The driver of the third vehicle was taken to UPHS-Marquette with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials believe snowy and slippery weather conditions contributed to the crash.

No citations were issued.

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Champion man was cited Thursday for causing a three-vehicle crash in Negaunee Township.

CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI--   Two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash in Chocolay Township Tuesday.

Police say around 10:30 a.m. a vehicle had stopped on M-28 near Lakewood Lane to turn into a driveway when it was rear-ended by a delivery van. The impact pushed the first vehicle into the oncoming lane, where it hit a westbound vehicle.

The driver and passenger of the first vehicle were taken to UPHS Marquette with non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.

The driver of the van was cited for speeding.

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI--   Three people—two of them Michigan State Police troopers—were taken to the hospital, following a three-vehicle crash in Negaunee Township.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says Tuesday around 10:50 p.m. the troopers’ patrol vehicle, its emergency lights on, was stationary in the inside lane of US-41 near Pond Road providing traffic control for a prior crash.  A Chevy Malibu driven by Trevor Witty, 19, of Munising was in the process of passing a Dodge Charger when his vehicle lost control.  It hit the Charger then careened in the patrol vehicle.

PORTAGE TOWNSHIP, MI--   Three people were injured in a multiple-vehicle crash in Houghton County Sunday. 

State Police from the Calumet Post were dispatched to M-26 near Canal Road in Portage Township around 10:30 a.m. They say an eastbound car driven by Darcy Way, a 52-year-old male from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, crossed the centerline and sideswiped a westbound car driven by Linda Belote, 76, of Hancock. Way’s car then struck another westbound vehicle driven by Sharon Waarala, 60, of Laurium.

SOO TOWNSHIP, MI--   Several people were injured in a three-vehicle traffic accident in Chippewa County over the weekend. 

State Police from the Sault Ste. Marie Post say it happened Sunday at 6:21 p.m. at the intersection of M-129 and 3 Mile Road in Soo Township.  The occupants of two of the vehicles were taken to War Memorial Hospital for treatment. 

The crash remains under investigation. 

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Department, Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department, Border Patrol, and Sault Fire Department and Ambulance assisted at the scene.
