LANSING, MI (AP)-- State wildlife staffers will be asking anglers for information this winter to help with fisheries management.
Creel clerks with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources will request brief interviews with some anglers to find out how long they fished, what species they targeted, what they caught and where they live.
In some cases, they will ask to weigh the fish and take scale samples.
The DNR's Statewide Angler Survey Program gathers data to determine whether regulations should be changed and to identify where habitat improvements and fish stocking are needed.
Interviewers this winter will focus on Saginaw Bay, Les Cheneaux Islands, Munising, Au Train, Marquette, Keweenaw Bay, Lake Gogebic and Little Bay de Noc.
