Private landowners may now apply for deer habitat improvement grants from DNR

LANSING, MI— The application period is now open for DNR deer habitat money.

The Upper Peninsula Deer Habitat Improvement Partnership Initiative is designed to enhance deer habitat on private lands in the U.P. The initiative is supported by the state’s Deer Range Improvement Program, which is funded by a portion of deer hunting license revenue.

This year, the total program budget has increased to $200,000.  The maximum and minimum grant requests have also increased respectively to a maximum of $25,000 and a minimum of $5,000. The required match remains at 25 percent.

Project applications must be received electronically or postmarked by Friday, March 6. The complete grant application package is available at Michigan.gov/DNR-Grants.
