Empire back up and running in September

PALMER, MI--   The Empire Mine will resume operations early next month. 

About 245 employees have been laid off since a planned production curtailment went into effect in June.  Officials say Cliffs Natural Resources has adjusted production plans and will continue operations in early September. 

It’s anticipated that all idled employees will be recalled.
