WELLS TOWNSHIP, MI-- An Escanaba building is a total loss, following an early-morning fire.
Escanaba Public Safety firefighters were called to the pole building on M.5 Lane in Wells Township around 1:50 Friday morning. They found the structure fully engulfed and heard several small explosions inside the building.
Escanaba and Ford River Township firefighters battled the blaze for four hours. They say suppression was difficult because of the contents and material that made up the structure.
Authorities don’t yet have a dollar estimate on damage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
