SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (AP) — Groups in Michigan backing medical marijuana and pushing for broader legalization of the drug hope to send a message by spending $2 bills.
The Detroit Free Press reports that a three-week effort begins Wednesday to demonstrate their economic clout, and they're asking supporters to spend at least one of the typically less-used $2 bills for every cash purchase.
Michigan voters approved marijuana for some chronic medical conditions in 2008, but the Supreme Court ruled in January that medical marijuana dispensaries aren't allowed.
