Wolf count up to 17

MARQUETTE, MI--   Hunters have taken at least 17 wolves so far in the Upper Peninsula season. 

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources says as of 6 a.m. Sunday four wolves had been killed in the far western U.P.  Ten were taken in the management unit that includes Baraga, Houghton, Ontonagon and Gogebic counties.  And three wolves have been killed in the eastern U.P. 

The wolf season runs until December 31 or until 43 wolves are harvested.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
