Woman dies in Powell Township fire

POWELL TOWNSHIP, MI-- State Police from the Negaunee Post are investigating a house fire that killed a Powell Township woman.

Troopers were called to 106 Bensinger Friday around noon. Investigation revealed Cheryl Girard, 59, wasn’t able to get out of the house and died as a result of the fire.

Powell Township firefighters, the Marquette Township Fire Department and Powell Township EMS responded to the scene.

Troopers were assisted by the 8^th District Fire Investigator.
