Windy at the Mighty Mac

ST. IGNACE, MI (AP)--   High winds at the Mackinac Bridge are prompting officials to require an escort of larger vehicles such as semis and campers.

Operators of the five-mile bridge connecting Michigan's Upper and Lower Peninsulas also are asking motorists Friday to reduce their speed to 20 mph as they approach the bridge and be prepared to stop.

So-called high profile vehicles requiring an escort on the bridge include pickup trucks with campers; cars with small boats, bicycles or luggage attached to the roof; moving trucks; any vehicle pulling a boat; and all trailers with side walls over 2 feet in height.
