MARQUETTE, MI-- Michigan State Police posts across the U.P. will serve as drop-off points for old and
unused prescription drugs during Drug Take-Back Day Saturday.
Law enforcement officials say old drugs kept in medicine cabinets are often misused and abused by people who weren’t prescribed the medication. Environmentalists say flushing drugs down the toilet cause reproductive and developmental problems in aquatic wildlife.
Drugs will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the posts. No liquids, inhalers, patches, or syringes will be accepted.
Each post will serve the following counties:
Calumet Post Houghton, Keweenaw, Baraga Counties
Gladstone Post Delta, Menominee Counties
Iron Mountain Post Dickinson, Iron Counties
Negaunee Post Alger, Marquette Counties
Sault Ste. Marie Post Chippewa, Luce Counties
St. Ignace Post Mackinac, Schoolcraft Counties
Wakefield Post Gogebic, Ontonagon Counties
