Residents concerned about jet over Marquette County

MARQUETTE, MI--   State Police from the Negaunee Post are addressing reports of a low-flying jet in Chocolay Township Thursday.

Troopers received a number of 911 calls around 1:40 p.m. that an aircraft was flying low over the area of Lakewood Lane.

Police contacted the Federal Aviation Administration’s Air Route Traffic Control Center in Minneapolis.  Officials there said the jet was being tracked.  It was subsequently identified as a Navy jet that was conducting a training flight over water.

The FAA said the pilot did not violate any regulations.
