Firefighters called to Marquette home

MARQUETTE, MI--   No injuries are reported, following a house fire in Marquette. 

The City Fire Department was called around 6:15 p.m. Monday to 300 Altamont Street and found smoke coming out of the residence.  All occupants were able to get out of the house. 

Firefighters located the fire in the basement and were able to extinguish it within 15 minutes.  They say the house sustained moderate smoke and fire damage. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
