GOGEBIC COUNTY, MI--   The National Guard is now assisting in cleaning up and repairing portions of Gogebic County affected by flash flooding and severe thunderstorms last week.

Late Friday Governor Rick Snyder declared the county a disaster area, which led to the deployment of the National Guard 1432nd and 1430th Engineer Companies, working under the 107th Battalion.  They’re working with emergency responders to assess damage.

The Gogebic County Sheriff’s Department continues to check on residents at Little Girls Point and meet any needs they have.  Sections of roads to the area were washed away by flooding.
