MARQUETTE, MI-- The Marquette Fire Department was called to take care of a small fire at Babycakes Muffin Company Monday.
Officials say they received a report of a fire underneath a baking oven around
12:30 p.m. Upon arrival they found flames coming from the hardwood flooring directly below the ovens and extending into the basement.
The fire was extinguished, and firefighters cut away a 2-foot by 2-foot area of flooring to make sure all flames were put out.
Officials say Babycakes employees had evacuated the building and knocked the fire down with an extinguisher before firefighters arrived. They don’t expect business to be interrupted.
