Popular boating site gets repairs after severe July storms

IRONWOOD, MI (AP)--   Repairs are planned at a popular boating access site in Gogebic County that was damaged by severe July storms and flooding.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources says that work at the Oman Creek boating site will start Oct. 3, weather permitting. The site is located northwest of Ironwood and adjacent to Little Girl's Point County Park.

The site offers access to the creek and Lake Superior. Up to 11 inches of rain washed out much of the boat launch and parking area.

Work includes reconstructing the boating access ramp and restoring the parking area. The $30,000 project is expected to be completed by Oct. 31.
