Marquette Police: don't take rescue equipment

MARQUETTE, MI--   Marquette City Police say people need to leave safety equipment at area beaches alone unless there’s an emergency.

Officers say they’ve had a problem with people stealing equipment from Life Saving Stations, especially in the last month.  They say aside from the fact that it’s illegal to take the equipment in a non-emergency, it lessens the chance that someone will be helped when they most need it.

Anyone who sees someone taking equipment from Marquette Life Saving Stations is asked to call 911.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
