Free fishing this weekend

MARQUETTE, MI--   Everyone can fish without a license during the 2017 Winter Free Fishing Weekend Saturday and Sunday.

The Department of Natural Resources says it’s an annual effort to promote Michigan’s world-class fishing opportunities.  Several organized events are scheduled throughout the state, including the 8th annual Wakefield Volunteer Fire Department ice fishing contest Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A license isn’t required to fish this weekend, but all other regulations still apply.
