Missing Iron Mountain woman found in Morocco

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI--   Facebook is getting credit for locating an Iron Mountain woman missing in North Africa.

Samantha Ivacko, 32, was reportedly living in Morocco with her Moroccan boyfriend and 6-month-old baby girl when she slipped off the radar. She indicated to her family on February 16 that she wanted to come home. Plane tickets were secured at the American embassy, but Ivacko never picked them up.

Her family filed a missing persons report March 29 and the embassy apparently became involved.

A post on the Finding Samantha Ivacko Facebook page indicates she and her baby were found Saturday and were going to the U.S. embassy with police.

The family is thanking those in Morocco who read about the situation and contacted authorities.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
