Almost 200 pounds of prescription drugs collected by MSP last weekend

MARQUETTE, MI--   Michigan State Police posts across the U.P. collected nearly 194 pounds of prescription drugs last Saturday.

The MSP partnered with the Drug Enforcement Administration and other agencies to collect and dispose of unwanted or old medications during National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. All 30 posts in Michigan participated in the one-day effort, collecting just over 802 pounds of drugs.

Anyone who wasn’t able to participate in Take-Back Day can anonymously drop off their medications for destruction at any State Police post, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., excluding holidays. The service is free and no questions will be asked.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
