Bridge Walk to change this year

ST. IGNACE, MI--   The Labor Day Bridge Walk will start from both ends of the Mackinac Bridge this year.

The Mackinac Bridge Authority says participants will start from either side of the bridge, walk to the midpoint, then walk back. They can start any time between 7 a.m. and noon and walk as much of the bridge as they’re able.

The span will be closed to traffic as it was last year.

Many people weren’t able to participate in the 2017 Bridge Walk because they couldn’t get on buses in time before the bridge reopened at noon. MBA officials say while this option is a significant change, it allows the continuation of an important tradition.
