Smart911 comes to Marquette County Central Dispatch

MARQUETTE, MI--   Public safety officials in Marquette County have rolled out a service that provides information to 911 dispatchers during an emergency.

Smart911 allows citizens to create a free safety profile for their household. It can contain any details they want response teams to have in case something happens. Central Dispatch Manager Gary Johnson says when someone makes an emergency call, their safety profile will automatically be displayed to the 911 dispatcher, allowing them to send the right teams to the right location with the right information.

Residents can link home and work addresses to mobile phones through Smart911. They can also say how many pets are in their home, provide vehicle details in the event of an accident, and even include emergency contacts.

Citizens can also receive alerts regarding weather, road closures, shelters, and evacuations in the event of an emergency.

To sign up for a safety profile go to smart911.com.
