Iron Mountain fire thought to be electrical in nature

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI--   An Iron Mountain warehouse has been damaged by fire.

Monday around 2:10 p.m. firefighters were called to the Champion building on North Stephenson Avenue and found fire in the attic.

The Iron Mountain Fire Department requested aid from the Kingsford Fire Department, then from Breitung Township a short time later. Firefighters were on the scene for about six hours.

The occupants of the building evacuated before firefighters arrived. No injuries were reported.

The fire was contained to the attic. The building sustained moderate fire damage and significant smoke and water damage.

The cause of the fire is believed to be electrical in nature.

The Iron Mountain Department of Public Works, WE Energies, DTE, and Integrity Care EMS assisted at the scene.
