HOUGHTON, MI-- The Michigan Department of Transportation is doing routine maintenance on the Portage Lake Lift Bridge starting Wednesday night.
Cable greasing is scheduled for Wednesday night and early Thursday morning. The work will require several bridge lifts, up to 30 minutes each.
The lifts are scheduled to begin after 11 p.m. and be completed by 6 a.m. Resulting closures will affect vehicle, pedestrian and bicycle traffic.
The schedule is weather-dependent and may be adjusted.
