Motorcycle hits minivan in Marquette County

MARQUETTE COUNTY, MI--   A motorcycle rider has been slightly injured in a Marquette County traffic crash.

Sheriff’s deputies say the incident happened Monday around 7:30 p.m. on US-41 at the intersection of County Road HQ.

James Roberts, 30, of Negaunee was westbound on his bike when he failed to stop at a red light and rear-ended a Dodge minivan driven by Bruce Maki, 54, of Atlantic Mine.

Roberts suffered minor injuries to his legs.  He claimed the setting sun blinded his vision.

Roberts was treated at the scene, while Maki was not injured.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
