Motorcycle accident injures two

SKANDIA, MI--   Only minor injuries have been reported in an accident involving motorcycles in Skandia.

Troopers from the Negaunee Post say it happened Wednesday around 9 p.m. at the intersection of US-41 and M-94 East.  They say a group of eight people on six motorcycles were riding to Marquette when one bike rear-ended the lead motorcycle.

One person was taken to Marquette General Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.  Another sought his own treatment.

All subjects in the crash were wearing helmets and appropriate safety gear.  One rider was ticketed for failure to stop within an assured clear distance.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
